SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS, December 9, 2024 — Today, the board of directors of the organization formally known as Women in Film & Television San Antonio [WIFT SATX+] proudly announced an exciting evolution in the nonprofit organization’s journey stating that effective immediately, they have rebranded as Women in Film & Television Texas [WIFT Texas] to reflect the San Antonio-based organization’s dynamic growth and expanded mission.
“This strategic transformation enables us to represent and serve a broader community regionally and nationally while remaining true to our November 2023 founding nonprofit domestic corporation charter as the preeminent Media & Entertainment industry organization to produce programming, service, and empower women in Bexar County, the Hill Country, Coastal Bend, Rio Grande Valley, broader South Texas, and our burgeoning relationship with Monterrey, MX,” said founding CEO and chairwoman Ceslie Armstrong.
Women in Film & Television Texas is positioned to foster growth and build bridges across a vibrant and valuable — yet underserved — region of the United States to collectively represent the societal and economic impact women in Media & Entertainment are making in the existing multi-billion dollar industry in Texas that is poised for disruptive rapid growth.
“Women in Film & Television San Antonio has experienced phenomenal growth over 14 months, and 2025 for Women in Film & Television Texas is on pace to be a pivotal year in the transformation of how the Media & Entertainment industry is defined and valued from within and by markets regionally, nationally, and globally,” said board member Jeffrey Dash.
Now is the time for the collective voices and actions of Women in Film & Television Texas members and allies to shape and strengthen our industry through leadership, programming, and participation in the spirit of trailblazing forward to strengthen opportunities for us all. The rebranding to Women in Film & Television Texas reflects our commitment to amplifying the voices, talents, and potential of women across Texas and beyond. This shift is not just about geography — it is about creating more opportunities for collaboration, education, and advocacy for women who comprise a broad range of professions spanning the entire Media & Entertainment industry. From producers and directors to marketeers, talent, journalists, executives, designers, and business affairs — above the line and below, in front of the camera or behind it — WIFT Texas is dedicated to helping women reach their highest level of achievement. Our rebranding and expansion initiatives are designed to amplify our current pillars to:
Expand Membership Opportunities: To serve existing members and expand membership offerings and levels across Texas to create a broader network of professionals and students seeking to enter the industry. As in our New York and other many state-defined sister chapters, WIFT Texas will be offering Dual Memberships for members of WIFTI-recognized chapters. The Council of Commissioners will expand regionally to include leaders in their respective markets.
Continue and Enhance Programming: Member Sessions, the WIFT TX Speaker Series, The Celestial Party – Annual Tribute to the inaugural Academy Awards [5/16/25], The WIFT Texas Summit + The Celestial Awards™ November 2025, WIFT TX Magazine, and the “Leading Ladies & Women Who Lead” show are all slated for 2025. By popular request, we will be introducing new workshops and networking opportunities tailored to the unique needs of a regional and cross-border creative community.
Advocate for Women: Continue to strengthen our advocacy efforts on issues impacting women in media and entertainment, from career development to parity in recognition, compensation, and gender equity through representation and programming. Provide members with access to a supportive community of peers within the organization and its partners via our network that fosters connection and collaboration. Women in Film & Television Texas advocates for equality in the Media & Entertainment industry and supports women at every stage of their careers — from aspiring students to seasoned professionals.
Strengthen and Build Partnerships: Collaborate with industry leaders, educational institutions, organizations, and governments to promote professional growth, support the WIFT Texas programming slate, impact industry decision-making, and provide services.
“This rebranding represents the next stage in our evolution as an organization, but it is also a reflection of our unwavering commitment to foster connection, champion equality, and support the remarkable women whose stories and talents shape the media and entertainment industry,” said founding vice president Eileen Kret.
The Board of Directors, Council of Commissioners, and all Members are thrilled to embark on this journey as Women in Film & Television Texas, and look forward to welcoming new members, collaborators, and supporters into the growing thriving community.
